A group of people stand near the Peninsula Bridge at Ngātīmoti, looking out over the Motueka River which is in flood. According to the NIWA New Zealand Historic Weather Events Catalogue - prolonged rain from the 12 to the 18 of April 1957 resulted in severe flooding, 'reputedly the worst in living memory' in the Motueka and Waimea catchments.
