Neuroinflammation is a key component of virtually all neurodegenerative diseases, preceding neuronal loss and associating directly with cognitive impairment. Neuroinflammatory signals can originate and be amplified at barrier tissues such as brain vasculature, surrounding meninges and the choroid plexus.
