Cake of Knight's Castile toilet soap in original paper wrapper. The original Castile soap was made from olive oil and soda at Castile in Spain. John Knight Limited introduced Knight’s Castile soap in 1919 when the 1918 Influenza Pandemic was still raging. The founder of the soap manufacturer was John Knight (1792-1864) whose goal was to make affordable soap to help prevent disease and keep citizens healthy.
