Taikura Kapa Haka brings together over 700 kaumātua (elders) from regional and marae-based rōpū (groups) throughout the motu (country) to Te Whanganui-a-Tara during Matariki. The weekend is a celebration of traditional performing arts and rich mātauranga (knowledge) which our koroua (male elders) and kuia (female elders) share during their 15-minute kapa haka (choreographed Māori performances).
