Description

A postcard view of Pontile del Re Imperatore in Tripoli, Libya. Pontile in English means wharf. Imperatore mean Emperor in English. Writing on the reverse side states - " The main part of the town - Piazza Italia. Part of the old Spanish fort and right a flagpole from which now flies the Union Jack " The above description was written by John Wallace (Jack) Bickley, service number 48015. The postcard is part of the post card collection that he sent home from Libya during World War Two
