New Zealand’s Parliament recently reformed the country’s choice of law rules in tort by passing the Private International Law (Choice of Law in Tort) Act 2017. The Act abolishes the traditional common law rule for torts (known as the double actionability rule) and substitutes a lex loci delicti rule with a flexible exception.
