Description

States that he [Te Ahu] will give Kataore, a greenstone mere [club] from his elders, to him as a token of his love and because of Grey's love for his [Te Hau's] son. Asks that Maori not know about this; comments that he does not suggest this out of fear. Reminds Grey that he knows this mere, that Wi Kingi Whiti had it when he saw him at Waikanae earlier, and that when they [Whiti et al] went down to Waitara it was left with him [Te Ahu].
