From today, commuters have been able to take the train directly from between Pukekohe and Auckland’s CBD in more than two years. Pukekohe Station closed in 2022 for KiwiRail to electrify the rail line to Papakura and preparation work for the City Rail Link set to open in 2026. Previously, commuters had to take a bus to Papakura and catch the train from there to get to Britomart.
