Grosvenor School
A DigitalNZ Story by Sienna Latham
Founded in London in 1925, the Grosvenor School of Modern Art championed both modernism and established printmaking techniques. New Zealand holdings include linocuts and other works by Sybil Andrews, Claude Flight and his students Eileen Mayo, Lill Tschudi, William Greengrass, Ethel Spowers, Dorrit Black and Dudley Holland. Spowers and Black helped to popularise the school's style in the Antipodes, and Mayo settled in Aotearoa in later life.
