Duncan Winder

A DigitalNZ Story by Sienna Latham

With his camera, Wellington-based Winder documented architectural models and construction sites, furniture and sculpture, churches and factories, public buildings and private residences, seascapes and landscapes and cityscapes, everyday moments in ordinary, oftentimes familiar, places. It's that ordinariness that I love most: the way he finds beauty in every exposure by taking into account the lines and angles and curves, the natural or artificial light, the personality of each individual intersection of time and space. Not to mention the distinctive perspective the photographer himself brings to his work, whether commissioned or taken for pleasure.
