Lieutenant-Colonel Malone, commander of 1st Wellington Battalion sailed for Egypt, 1914, fought at Suez and then at Gallipoli, 1915. Fought in the Second Battle of Krithia, May 1915. Post commander at Courtney's Post and Quinn's Post between Jun - Aug 1915. Killed at Chunuk Bair on 8 Aug 1915. Serial number: 10/1039. The Manuscripts Section of the Alexander Turnbull Library holds two collections of papers relating directly to Malone and donated by Malone family members, MS-Group-0056 & MS-Group-1747. 14 diaries and letterbooks from these two collections have been digitised and are available for research online. The Photographic Archive of the Alexander Turnbull Library holds digitised images from negatives and photographs of Malone in various collections, including those deposited by the Malone family.
