A DigitalNZ Story by Brendan Graham

Also known as Wellington Provincial Centennial Memorial The memorial was built to commemorate the arrival of the first New Zealand Company Settlers on Pito-one’s shores on 22nd January 1840. Serving also as a bathing pavilion, the Wellington Provincial Centennial Memorial became the heart of Petone’s thriving beach scene.
