I kissed his soft smiling lips and said goodbye as he jumped onto the back of the truck full of other soldiers. His eyes were shinning with the hope of adventure and not really knowing what he was getting into. He flashed me a toothy grin and I smiled back. Would I see the love of my life again? Or would he be left to rot with the other fallen soliders on the battle front? "Michale, make sure you do come back, for the sake of the baby on the way." I said waving to him. His eyebrows raised and he stared at me in surprise. "You're pregnant?" He shouted at me as the truck started to roll away. I nodded and waved goodbye as his body grew smaller and smaller. He needed to come home.
- Eight and a half months later -
"Push, you can do this Olivia. Only a few more." My midwife Lola said wiping my forehead with a damp sponge. Tears streamed down my face and I kept going. "I can't do this!" I sobbed wildly. "Not without Michale." Lola wiped my forehead and smiled at me. "Olivia, you already have." She said handing me a bundle of blankets. It hadn't hit me. I wasn't the only one wailing. So was my little girl. "She's gorgeous, Olivia. What will you name her?" Lola said stroking my hair back. "She looks like a potatoe, but I will call her Daisy." I said stroking Daisy's nose. As I cuddled her to my chest the door burst open. "Michale!" I exclaimed over joyed. He ran over still in uniform and hugged me, carefully not to sqaush Daisy. "She's got your eyes." He laughed kissing my cheek. "Love, you're a bit salty with sweat." He joked passing me a towel.
This really was the man of my dreams.
