On 15 October 1888 a modest birth notice was published in Wellington's main paper, The Evening Post. It read BEAUCHAMP - On 14 October, the wife of Mr. Harold Beauchamp, of a daughter". This was the announcement that Kathleen Mansfield Beauchamp, the third of Annie Burnett and Harold Beauchamp's six children. Kathleen's was born at home at 11 (later renumbered 25) Tinakori Road, Thorndon, Wellington. She was to become better known as the writer Katherine Mansfield.
