 Denton, F J, 1869-1963

Born 24 Aug 1869 in Wellington. Took up photography in 1895 and purchased the photographic studio of Alfred Martin in Wanganui, in October 1899. The studio had previously belonged to Denton's uncle William J Harding. Third son of George and Eliza Annie Denton. Married twice; firstly to Laura Close in 1900, secondly to Ethel Mary. Father of Edith Mary (Mrs. William Richard Powell, b 1901), Dulcie Harding (Mrs. Archie Leighton Dixon, b 1903), Marjorie Close (Mrs. John Daniel Rhys Davies, b 1903), and Harold Morley (1913-2002).
