World War One Online
A DigitalNZ Story by Alex Archivists (twitter.com/AlexArchivists)
This digital set comprises selected digitised diaries and letters from the Manuscripts Collection of the Alexander Turnbull Library. These manuscripts cover a broad range of World War One experiences: From soldiers training in New Zealand in 1914, embarkation and further military training in Egypt, through to the theatres of war in Gallipoli, the Western Front and the Middle East. These manuscripts capture the private thoughts of the soldier in his relationships with family, friends, loved ones, fellow soldiers and the foe. Other documents capture the stories from nurses serving in the Great War and correspondence from the Home Front. These digitised items are out of copyright and are made available for research purposes. To delve further into these manuscripts click on "View at TAPUHI" link. This will surface the metadata including the link "See original record".
