Retired services
Since its establishment in 2008, DigitalNZ has worked on and supported many projects, some of which are now retired. This page provides information about those retired services.
Matapihi
Matapihi was New Zealand's first window into the online collections of different New Zealand cultural organisations, and it operated as an aggregated search that helped lay the foundation for the full DigitalNZ service. This site was disestablished in 2014, but all the content remains accessible via the DigitalNZ search service.
Housing Research for New Zealand
The Housing Research for New Zealand portal was established in 2009 using the DigitalNZ API. The portal was "a collaboration between several organisations that carry out research into housing issues—social, economic, technical and environmental." This website was retired in 2014, but the content is still accessible via DigitalNZ.
Wellington City Council Research Portal
The Wellington City Council Research Portal provided access to research produced by, and commissioned for, the Wellington City Council. This search portal was powered by the DigitalNZ API. This website was retired in 2014, but the content remains accessible via DigitalNZ. Wellington City Council's research and data is available on their site.
Classic search
The Classic search site was built in 2008 alongside the launch of the DigitalNZ API. The website demonstrated the potential of the DigitalNZ API to aggregate digital collections and making them searchable via a single search service.
Custom Search builder
The custom search builder was a tool that people could use to create a mini search service on their website using the DigitalNZ API.
API versions 1 and 2
As DigitalNZ has developed, the public API has been continually expanded and improved. Since 2014, we are up to version 3 of the API, and versions 1 and 2 are no longer in operation.
